Adrenal Fatigue: Are We Burning Ourselves Out?

Huffingtonpost.com:

How many people do you know who seem attached to their iPhone, iPad or Blackberry, or who stay up late at night on their computers? What about those people who wake up at 3 or 4 a.m. to go to the gym before work and then stay at work until 8 or 9 p.m.? Let me guess. Lots! Ladies and gentlemen, we are pushing the envelope day and night. We are trying to do so much, so well, that we’ve forgotten to come up for air. And now our bodies are beginning to pay the price.

I’m seeing more and more patients who suffer physically from burnout — they’re tired, but they can’t sleep, their blood pressure is off, they’re using sugar and caffeine to get through the day, they can’t think clearly and they have a general sense of feeling overwhelmed. These symptoms stem from adrenal imbalance. OurĀ  are primarily responsible for our stress response, but they also play major roles in sleep, blood sugar balance, hormonal balance, blood pressure and more.

The Beginning of The End – Week 6

Posted on

Week 6 is good. Steady. I am still taking EstroSmart and Vitex, again, as far as I can tell it’s not interfering with my cortisol levels. The real test will be if it has the desired effect on my PMS.

I thought for some reason that keeping a summer schedule would be easier…ummm….WRONG!

Turns out the easy breezy days of summer are wrecking havoc on this still, very new schedule that I’m on. Being Canadian, I hate to rush summer in favour of Fall, but there is a small part of me that can’t wait for Septembers more predictable timetable.

As of this week I am declaring the use of hydro-cortisone, for me, a success. I still have imbalances and deficiencies to work on, namely thyroid, iron, B12 and D3, but I can tell you about the symptoms where I have noticed an improvement:

Aches and pains – With in the first week I was using less anti-inflammatory medications.

Anxiety – Generally feeling calmer, more peaceful.

Fatigue – I am still very tired due to extremely low iron, but I can report that I don’t feel like roadkill!

Weepiness – In the past nine years I could cry over just about anything, the thing is before getting sick this was never the case. The times I do feel weepy are getting fewer.

There is still a long road ahead for me. Using Cortef is no quick fix, it takes a commitment of 6 months to 2 years of using hydrocortisone to fully heal from Adrenal Fatigue. But I am confident that I am the path to recovery for the first time in 9 years!
